CNN —After being dispatched in five games by the reigning champion Denver Nuggets, LeBron James spoke to the media about what’s next for the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar. With his season once again coming to a premature end, James is looking forward to spending some time away from basketball. “I just want to get home to the family, honestly,” James said after the game. James, playing in his 21st season in the league, averaged 27.8 points across the five games along with 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.4 steals and one block. Despite the silver lining of an extended break from the sport, the summer won’t be one long vacation for James.

CNN —Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving said he “just didn’t fit” into the 12-man basketball roster selected to represent Team USA at the upcoming Olympic Games. Irving has twice enjoyed success with USA Basketball (USAB) – winning gold at the 2014 FIBA World Cup and the Rio 2016 Olympics – and had outlined his desire to once again be part of an Olympic roster. This year’s announcement process was certainly different, with USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill traveling across the country to personally deliver the Team USA jerseys to each player that was selected. Irving won a gold medal with Team USA at Rio 2016. The Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics will take place on July 26 with men’s basketball play beginning the following day.

CNN —Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry was left lamenting “self-inflicted wounds” after Draymond Green received his fourth ejection of the season during the team’s 101-93 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Green’s ejection came less than four minutes into the game after he received two technical fouls for disputing two separate foul calls. CNN —Another day, another record broken by Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. In the Hawkeyes’ 95-62 Big Ten Tournament win against the Penn State Lady Lions on Friday, Clark eclipsed NBA star Steph Curry’s record of most three-pointers hit in a single NCAA Division-I season. However, Clark has now surpassed the man who many consider the greatest three-point shooter in the history of basketball. Clark eventually found her groove and was able to sink the crucial three to write her name in yet another page of the history books. In a win against the Ohio State Buckeyes on March 3, Clark overtook Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record of 3,667 points.

The Golden State star and NBA's all-time 3-point king beat Ionescu 29-26 in the Steph vs. Sabrina competition at All-Star Saturday night, the first such him-vs.-her event of its kind at the league's weekend showcase. Ionescu won the WNBA's 3-point shootout at its All-Star weekend last year with a record 37 points, smashing Curry's NBA-shootout mark of 31 points.
